Request a new site
Fresco, the University’s new website platform replacing Mosaic, is now open for new site requests, in accordance with the University's new content and governance procedures.
Why Fresco?
If you’re planning a new site, Fresco is the default and preferred platform, although Mosaic sites can still be provisioned if the platform better meets your requirements.
Since Mosaic is reaching end-of-life, creating your new site directly in Fresco means you can:
- avoid the time and effort of migrating content to Fresco later
- avoid having to learn two web CMS systems
- begin building and structuring your site in a new user-friendly CMS
- get comfortable working in Fresco at a time that suits you
Note: Fresco may not be suitable for everyone at this stage. Building in Fresco is likely to be more suitable for simple sites which don’t immediately require complex functionality. The platform’s functionality is continually evolving (see the roadmap), and the availability of certain features could influence the Governance Group's decision.
Site request process:
As part of the University’s work to streamline and better organise its web estate, the finalised process is now in place for requesting new sites across Oxford's platforms. This is the next step building on the governance approach which was previously in place on an interim basis.
Anyone requesting a new site is advised to first review the criteria, before submitting their request via an IT self-service form. This provides a single route for all new site requests. Requests will be considered by the new Web and Intranet Governance Group, which brings together representatives from across the University, to support an organised and purposeful approach to content.
Guidance on site criteria and how to submit a request is available on the Communications Hub.
