Symplectic publications: now available!

We are delighted to announce the first delivery of the new Symplectic component, enabling editors to display publication information from Symplectic on Fresco pages.

What has changed?

The Symplectic component allows publications to be listed in Fresco.

The initial release focuses on:

  • Page layout flexibility for both brief and full lists
  • Toggled display filter options for keywords, author, publication date and type
  • Show/hide pagination controls
  • Configurable ‘items to show per page’
  • Pre-filters on SSO and publication type

Planned further development

  • ‘Favourites’ filtering
  • Enhanced pre-filter options

Why has the change happened?

The ability to add publications to a Fresco site is a key requirement to enable users to migrate from Mosaic and has been delivered as part of our roadmap. It will also benefit new sites who depend on the ability to promote research.

How does this impact your site?

For sites scheduled to migrate from Mosaic to Fresco

  • We have expanded the Fresco automated migration to add Symplectic so that Publications will be auto-migrated
  • Existing pages using a full-list display option will be migrated to the new full-page listing option
    • 25 items per page, with pagination controls, and filters for end-user interaction
  • Existing pages using a brief list with a ‘More’ button will be migrated to the new brief listing option which uses a 'Show More' button to link to a full-page listing
    • 10 items per page, with 'Show More' button, no pagination controls, no filters
    • 'Show filters' can be toggled on
  • The “Only show favourites” Mosaic setting will be preserved. We will migrate the setting into Fresco, but it will not be functional until the component is updated later this year

For existing Fresco sites

  • ‘Symplectic Publications’ is now available in the components menu to add to your preferred section layout
