Styling options: now available!

Fresco’s new design system has been delivered as part of the latest release, bringing a more structured approach to colours and branding. The new system allows sites to establish an individual visual identity while maintaining a consistent, accessible Oxford look and feel.

As part of this update, all Fresco sites are assigned to one of three styling categories. Your styling category determines how the design system is applied to your site, including the level of flexibility available for colours and branding.

The three styling categories

  • Oxford Identity Sites - for departments, divisions and research units that need a clear connection to the Oxford University brand, alongside their own individual colour
  • Branded Sites - for sites including colleges, clubs and societies to create a distinctive, more tailored visual identity
  • Specialist Sites - for museums, libraries and other sites with more specialised design requirements and complex user journeys

These category assignments have been agreed in consultation with divisional representatives to ensure a consistent approach across the University. A small number of sites fall outside these standard categories; if your site is one of these exceptions, we'll contact you directly.

Site owners may submit one request for review of their assigned category. Appeals will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Please get in touch with the Web Experience Manager (theo.ratcliff@it.ox.ac.uk) with any questions at this stage.
