Fresco Platform Update – Version 1.5.7 (10 August 2026)

This release extends the Embed component with Spotify, Facebook, X and Oxford Events, and adds new filtering options for Symplectic publications. It also makes site ownership and cookie information easier to find, improves editing performance on content-heavy pages, and resolves display issues.

What's new

  • Embed component extended
    • Editors can now add supported content from Spotify, Facebook and X, where the relevant service has been enabled for their site
    • OxEvents can now be embedded via code from the Oxford Mosaic embed generator. Please note that OxEvents styling in Fresco is still being finalised and may change
    • See our help page on how to embed Oxford Events here: Oxford Events | Fresco Help
    • These services are managed through the Embed component, with their associated cookies controlled through the site’s cookie preferences

  • More ways to filter Symplectic publications
    • Editors can choose to display only publications that have been marked as favourites by one or more of the authors specified in the component settings
    • Publications can now be pre-filtered using one or more series titles
    • Editors can choose whether visitors are offered a Series filter
    • Where a component has been limited to favourite publications, visitors are not shown an unnecessary favourites filter
    • Available series values are based on the publications currently displayed, and the filters adapt to smaller screens

  • Site Owner information is easier to find
    • Logged-in editors can now select View site owner from the administration bar
    • This displays the current Site Owner’s name and SSO ID without requiring access to the People or Settings screens
    • The information can be hidden again using the same control

  • Clearer component choices and layout rules
    • Slideshow now appears under Full width components when editors use Add Section, alongside components with similar layout behaviour
    • Tabs and Accordions placed within a section can no longer be moved outside their containing layout. This prevents invalid page structures being created accidentally

  • Clearer and more consistent cookie information
    • Cookie policy links in areas such as the footer and cookie controls now lead consistently to the site-generated cookie policy
    • The Cookie Preference Centre now links directly to the site’s cookie policy
    • The site-generated cookie policy descriptions of marketing cookies have been updated to explain that they may be used to measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns
    • The cookie statement includes updated wording and information about the cookie banner
    • Its Last updated date now reflects the most recent change to the statement or to the third-party services available through the Embed component. Visitors can also follow a link explaining how this date is maintained

  • Sign-in for eligible retired staff
    • Retired staff with an eligible SSO account and card type of FR or FS can now sign in where they have been assigned an editing role
    • Retired staff cannot be assigned as a Site Owner

  • Updated inline-link behaviour
    • Links within body text remain underlined by default, making them clearly identifiable
    • The underline is removed when a visitor hovers over the link
    • The transition is omitted for visitors who have chosen reduced-motion settings

Bug fixes

  • Faster editing on content-heavy pages
    • Components added to pages containing a large amount of content now appear in the preview more promptly after editors select Apply
    • Editing and saving should remain more responsive as page content increases

  • Local Navigation typography
    • Local Navigation components now inherit the site’s configured font and font-weight settings instead of continuing to use the default typeface

  • Sharper Banner images on mobile
    • Images in Banners using the 33/66 layout now use an appropriate image resolution on mobile screens, preventing high-resolution source images from appearing blurred or pixelated

  • Inline-image captions and attributions
    • Captions and attributions added to images within Text components are now displayed as expected

Further information

  • Platform maintenance and security

    • This release includes routine platform maintenance and security hardening
    • Technical details relating to security updates have intentionally been omitted
