Fresco Platform Update – Version 1.5.2 (4 June 2026)
This release adds more flexible listing options, updates icon selection, improves content management information, and fixes issues affecting footers, quotations, videos, slideshows, tables and editing.
What's new
- More flexible listing sort options
- Editors can now choose to enable or disable sorting options for end-users.
- When enabled, visitors can sort listed content using options that reflect the type of content, such as publication date, event date or alphabetical order.
- Editors can now choose to enable or disable sorting options for end-users.
- Updated icon selection
- Editors can only select Material UI icons to add a new icon in components that support icons, including Icon, Metadata, Button, Hero, and Banner and Card button settings.
The icon selector shows icon thumbnails, supports searching by icon name, and allows editors to clear a selected icon.
When editors open settings for a legacy Font Awesome icon, they are prompted to switch to a Material UI icon. They can still save the page without changing the icon.
- Smaller “Powered by Fresco” wording
- The “Powered by Fresco” branding now appears as smaller text beneath the footer, rather than as a larger visual element above it. This gives pages a cleaner footer area while retaining a link to the main Fresco website.
- More consistent navigation and header behaviour
- Navigation dropdowns in Standard and Microsite headers now keep the expected header colour when dark theme colours are used, rather than applying a different theme background unexpectedly.
- Standard Headers now show the site title on mobile, helping visitors understand where they are when viewing a site on smaller screens.
- Clearer content management information
- The page details Edit Pane has been re-ordered so key information and actions are easier to find.
- 'Current state' is more prominent, less frequently used sections are less intrusive, and revision information is placed last.
- Pages listed in the Content area now show the last editor of a page in the Author column, rather than the original creator, making it easier to keep track of responsibility for content.
- The page details Edit Pane has been re-ordered so key information and actions are easier to find.
- Improved video privacy handling
- Embedded YouTube and Vimeo videos now use privacy-enhanced configuration by default.
- This applies to new and existing video embeds, while preserving normal video playback.
- Embedded YouTube and Vimeo videos now use privacy-enhanced configuration by default.
- Slideshow and Banner refinements
- Slideshow and Banner behaviour has been improved so linked banners open the configured destination, title is underlined on hover, and slideshow navigation controls use the selected dark theme colour.
- Smoother movement to anchor links
- Pages now scroll smoothly when a visitor follows an anchor link, rather than jumping abruptly to the target section.
- Site ownership safeguards
Site Owners are now prevented from cancelling their own account where this would leave a site without a Site Owner.
A University Card status verification check has also been added to the Change Site Owner process. This is the first step in a broader process which is still in development.
Bug fixes
- Footer styling
- Bullet and numbered-list in Footers now use the intended colours across standard, light and dark themes
- Footer links, bullets and numbers now use the intended accessible footer colour.
- Quotations
- Quote styles that require an image now make this clearer to editors and prevent the quote being saved without the required image.
- Quote styles without an author no longer show an unnecessary hyphen where the author name would otherwise appear.
- Video previews on pre-live sites
- Logged-in editors can now accept video cookies from the video overlay on pre-live sites, so they can preview video content before a site goes live.
- Listings and filters
- Button text no longer wraps awkwardly at narrower screen widths.
- Taxonomy-style filter dropdowns initialise more reliably.
- Bulleted and numbered lists respect the standard, light and dark colour themes when used in a Text component.
- Redirect and alias messages
- When adding a new URL redirect, the error message has been improved to indicate when the path already exists.
- The 'URL aliases' menu item description in Settings has been updated to align with the Site Administrator's role.
- Slideshow page preview
- Saving a Slideshow no longer causes the Page Preview to show split slides or lose the expected previous and next controls.
- Editing reliability
- Editors can once again select components directly in the Page Preview without the page unexpectedly scrolling to the centre of the Section.
- Card image link fields no longer lose focus while an editor is typing a link.
- Tables in text components
- Tables placed inside Text components now respect the width of their parent column and scroll within that space where needed, rather than overflowing the layout.
