Fresco Platform Update – Version 1.4.8 (16 March 2026)

This release implements privacy and cookie management platform-wide. It also introduces several media enhancements and a variety of targeted fixes to improve layout consistency and the reliability of the editing experience.

What's new

  • New Cookie Consent Management Tool
    • Fresco now includes a comprehensive management tool for platform and video cookies. This ensures all sites adhere to a standard set of cookie categories with improved transparency for visitors: Strictly necessary, Analytics, Functional, Marketing and Video.
  • Video component enabled platform-wide
    • The dedicated Video component is now available across all Fresco sites, providing a more robust way to embed and manage multimedia content.
    • Supports YouTube and Vimeo.
    • Videos are protected by a consent overlay. A button prompts visitors to ‘Accept Cookies to Play Video’.
  • Support for WebP image formats
    • The media library has been extended to support WebP, a modern image format that provides superior compression and quality, helping to improve page load speeds, reduce the storage size of a website, and make delivery of images more environmentally sustainable without compromising quality.
  • Metadata component styling
    • The Metadata component has received a visual update to improve its presentation and ensure it integrates cleanly with various page layouts. Content that was historically stored in 'page details' in Mosaic (and migrated into Fresco metadata) now renders like standard body content when displayed on a page.

Bug fixes

  • Breadcrumbs no longer appear awkwardly on mobile
    • Breadcrumbs are now suppressed in smaller responsive views to avoid layout and wrapping issues.
  • Component layout and padding consistency
    • Several visual bugs have been resolved, including the removal of unnecessary padding in listing components without filters, fixing site logo alignment when titles wrap, and ensuring buttons within banners respect the intended width in the editor.
  • Grid and accordion functionality
    • The Tile Grid now correctly allows items to span multiple columns as intended. Drag-and-drop ordering within Accordions now persists after saving and reloading.
  • Improved image and media handling
    • Image focal points are now correctly respected within card layouts, and centre-alignment for images within text components now renders reliably. We also removed redundant image controls that were appearing incorrectly in banner components.
  • Editorial experience improvements
    • We have fixed an issue where adding a URL redirect via a button resulted in an technical error view for the user. In addition, layout changes in the editor will no longer inadvertently remove grey banner backgrounds.
  • Migration and structural reliability
    • Errors occurring during specific site migrations have been resolved, and we have fixed a bug where relative file links were missing leading slashes following a migration from Mosaic. Issues regarding missing headers and footers on certain regression sites have also been addressed.
  • Improved release process
    • Improved environment detection during code switchovers (between live and update servers), helps editors access content more reliably while deployments are in progress, greatly reducing the duration of the 'Temporarily unavailable' error messages previously seen during deployments.
    • To ensure deployment stability, the system now automatically blocks secondary actions, such as site migrations, while a production deployment is in progress.

Further information

  • Platform resilience and security
    • A number of platform maintenance tasks were completed, including anti-virus scanning optimisation (reducing unnecessary load), patching of code libraries, improvements to visual regression test stability, and security updates in the site management tool.
    • Help documentation has been published for Add an event, Tables, Card component, Hero (Beta)
