Fresco Platform Update – Version 1.4.6 (23 February 2026)

This release continues the work to make Fresco more consistent with the agreed design system, easier to edit, and more reliable for listings and migrations - with a set of targeted fixes that content owners and editors should notice day to day.

What's new

  • Quotation component is now available
    • The Quotation component has been enabled on new and existing sites, so editors can add quotes using a dedicated component rather than relying on workarounds in text.
  • Primary navigation is more resilient
    • Sites with longer menu labels or a larger number of items should now see navigation that degrades more gracefully—avoiding “stacked letters” and broken layouts when space is tight.
  • More theme options
    • A new brand colour option has been added: PPE / Politics Purple (#6435c9), available as a dark theme colour choice.
  • Footer button now follows both light and dark theme palettes
    • The footer button now correctly picks up the site’s chosen theme colour in both palettes, including hover behaviour, improving consistency across themed sites.
  • Inline images in Text component display more cleanly
    • Images that appear inside the Text component now have clearer spacing around them, improving readability—particularly for content migrated from Mosaic where inline images were common.

Bug fixes

  • Improved design consistency across components
    • Metadata styling now uses the intended colour for icons and text (and behaves correctly when switching between light and dark theme selections).
    • The Intro paragraph style now applies correctly across responsive breakpoints.
    • Tile Grid images with captions now resize properly and no longer overflow at narrower widths.
    • Landscape cards in Tile Grids now align consistently (equal heights within a row), improving visual consistency.
    • Rounded corners now apply reliably to fixed-height images (including cases involving captions).
    • Banner “Text bottom” images now display across the full intended width.
    • Footer columns now maintain clearer separation (padding) so long text doesn’t visually run into adjacent columns.
    • Numbered lists with 10+ items no longer lose the leading digit in mobile view.
    • Terms and Conditions text now wraps correctly between ~1125px and 768px viewports.
  • Editing experience improvements
    • Tab and Accordion titles can now be edited reliably (cursor placement works as expected).
    • Cards placed inside an Accordion remain editable after saving changes (including after changing the page title).
    • The Columns layout dropdown now allows access to all options on smaller screens / high scaling— including the 4-column 25/25/25/25 option.
  • Listings and pagination behave more predictably
    • Date-based sorting for listings now persists across pagination, and returning to page 1 remains consistent.
    • Pagination controls for Listings and Tile Grids now behave better in narrow layouts (e.g., mobile or constrained columns), avoiding awkward mid-word wrapping and improving usability.
  • Standards / reliability
    • Banner images no longer render with empty src attributes, reducing HTML validation errors and improving robustness.
  • Theme colour behaviour fixed in several places
    • Multiple fixes improve how theme colours apply across the platform (including banner background extension behaviour, media gallery navigation buttons, quotation styling elements, taxonomy filter dropdown icon colour, and search hover rounding alignment).
  • Migration improvements
    • Reusable content migrations are more reliable in several cases that previously failed.
    • Auto-migration now better preserves WYSIWYG text content so pages don’t lose editorial content in transit.

Further information

  • This release also includes routine platform maintenance, including a dependency security update.
  • A hot-fix release was also made on 12 February to correct a defect arising from release 1.4.5, which incorrectly scoped some changes to image alignments
    • Images set to centre or right alignment now render with the chosen alignment, instead of defaulting left.
