Embed Content/Site Settings Following Fresco 1.5.8

We recently identified that all available embed services were enabled by default on all Fresco sites, regardless of whether those services were in use by the site.

This meant that site cookie statements, generated on a site-by-site basis to declare cookies used based on enabled embed services, could incorrectly indicate that services were in use when they were not.

Fresco 1.5.8 contains work to alter this behaviour and ensure that, by-default, all embed options on existing Fresco sites will initially be disabled.

However, to achieve this default state, all embed services have been disabled across every existing Fresco site.

If your site uses embedded services, you’ll need to re-enable the ones you require by going to: Settings > Site Embed Options

Until a service is re-enabled:
  • Signed-in users will see: “This service has been disabled by an administrator.”
  • Anonymous/non-logged-in users will see a blank space where the embedded content would normally appear.

Once the appropriate service has been re-enabled, existing embeds using that service should display again as expected.

When is this happening?

Fresco 1.5.8 will be released on 7 September 2026, with deployment beginning at 9am. It is estimated that full deployment across all sites will be achieved by 3pm
